Job description

North West Recycling, Cumbria’s leading waste management supplier are actively recruiting for a MIV Service Provider to join our expanding team.

We employ over 100 staff, operate over 25 vehicles, and deploy over 2500 skips and containers from our 30-acre purpose-built waste management, skip hire and recycling facility near Carlisle, in Cumbria.

As a family run business, we are committed to helping our customers and partners to better, more sustainably, manage their waste. Our aim is to fully close the circular journey of the waste produced, through our ability to manage the entire process – skip hire and business waste collection through to recycling and full material recovery.

The Role

Job Title: MIV & Sales Support

Contract: Permanent

Reports to: Man in Van Manager

Rate of Pay: £13 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

 

Purpose of the post:

To provide the ‘Man in Van’ service on behalf of the company as directed by the ‘Man in Van’ Manager and any other nominated members of the management team.

To provide key assistance to the Business Development Manager and the sales team with Trade Waste accounts and customer service.

 

Main Responsibilities:

·       To complete jobs for the Man in Van service in line with the service and booking requirements.

·       To keep up-to-date with all Company prices, services, terms, parameters, etc, relating to the service in order to provide accurate information and to allow opportunities to add value for the customer;

·       To signpost potential/existing customers to the Man in Van Manager for bookings or specific service queries.

·       To drive company vehicles safely, legally and efficiently as required;

·       To load and unload the vehicle and maintain safety and security of the load at all times;

·       To carry out all necessary checks to ensure the vehicle is safe and legal and to follow relevant procedures for recording checks and for reporting defects as required;

·       To act as a company ambassador at all times by maintaining a presentable appearance and interacting professionally with customers;

·       To contribute to promoting the service;

·       To utilise the Driver App to review information regarding jobs and to record activities related to the job e.g. to record when ‘on the way’, to obtain customer signatures, etc;

·       To ensure that all jobs are completed on the driver app;

·       To ensure applicable risk assessments and safe systems of work are adhered to;

·       To comply with all health and safety requirements on the company’s premises, on the road and at customers’ premises;

·       The role will involve working with domestic customers and therefore being courteous and respectful of individual homes, property, etc is imperative.

·       To ensure own driving Licence remains up to date and to take responsibility for own fitness to drive at all times;

·       To contribute to the development of ways of measuring and improving process activities with continuous improvement;

·       Keep line manager up to date with issues to allow for continual development to ensure excellent service is maintained;

·       Be an efficient and productive member of the team. Take direction to facilitate the aims and development of the Company;

·       Working effectively and safely with members of operations and external contractors;

·       Participate in building and maintaining a strong health and safety culture within the organisation and people;

·       Attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills as required;

·       Adhere to Company policies and procedures at all times in particular the Company’s Health and Safety policy.
