Hazardous Waste Disposal
Asbestos is an old material, first used by humans in the Neolithic age as a temper for ceramics. The asbestos that our customers are likely to find will be in industrial or residential buildings built or refurbished before the year 2000. It is in many of the common materials used in the building trade that you may come across.
The most common type of asbestos we receive is bonded fibrous asbestos sheets. These were usually used in roofing and wall panels.
Waste asbestos, whether you want to bring it to us, or you want us to collect it we can make the arrangements, including ensuring you are fully compliant with the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, in England, or Special Waste Regulations 1996, in Scotland.
At our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) site, we accept deliveries of hard bonded asbestos. The material must be contained within purpose-built bags (double bagged) which are available from local stockists such as ARCO. Full sheets need to be wrapped in plastic and taped up like a parcel.
Commercial and domestic customers can deliver direct to site avoiding hefty charges often-associated disposal. Alternatively, for larger quantities we can provide a collection service.
Types of Asbestos we accept: (materials where asbestos fibres are firmly bonded within the products matrix) Cement, Roof Sheets & Flues Cement, Wall Cladding, Rain Water Pipes and Vinyl Floor Tiles
We will process all the appropriate documentation in accordance with the Environment Agency codes of practice.
