North West Recycling, Cumbria’s leading waste management supplier are actively recruiting for a professional Front End Loader (FEL) Wagon Driver to join our expanding team.

We employ over 120 staff, operate 40 vehicles, and deploy over 3000 skips and containers from our 30-acre purpose-built waste management, skip hire and recycling facility near Carlisle, in Cumbria.

Our aim is to fully close the circular journey of the waste produced, through our ability to manage the entire process – skip hire and business waste collection through to recycling and full material recovery.

The Role:

We are looking for a reliable and safety-focused Front End Loader (FEL) Wagon Driver to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and delivery of commercial waste and recycling materials using Front End Loader (FEL) vehicles.

This role requires excellent driving skills, strong customer service, and a commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards at all times.

 

Salary: £18.50 per hour

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours of work: 50+

Reports to: Transport Manager

Main Responsibilities:

  • Operate Front End Loader (FEL) vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out scheduled waste and recycling collections from customer sites.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
  • Ensure all collections are completed in line with route schedules and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, paperwork, and electronic logs where required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while representing the company professionally.
  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and road traffic regulations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading when necessary.
  • Keep vehicles clean and presentable.

Person Specification:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Valid CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Previous experience operating FEL or waste collection vehicles preferred.
  • Good knowledge of driver hours and road transport regulations.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexible and dependable attitude
