North West Recycling News
North West Recycling (NWR) recently welcomed Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe to their Carlisle HQ, after the waste recycling operation was selected to feature in a video & photographic case study to promote the Hyundai brand and capture the true capability of their construction machinery in action. The filming included an interview with NWR Managing Director Rick Allan, and footage of the Hyundai machinery in operation on site.
Cumbria based NWR has a long history with Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe through their mutual partnership with construction machinery specialists and official Hyundai dealership, Taylor & Brathwaite, who have supplied NWR with Hyundai machinery for several years.
Due to the huge volume of waste processing, the physical demands placed on the machinery, and its commitment to finding better ways of dealing with Cumbria’s waste, it made sense to select NWR as a partner for this Hyundai campaign. Each piece of equipment is required to meet the toughest expectations of plant operators and deliver the highest level of performance.
North West Recycling (NWR), Cumbria’s leading private waste management company is pleased to announce that it has joined the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
The CIWM raises the bar for operating standards in the waste management industry, NWR’s focus is on recycling process improvement within the circular economy, to divert waste from landfill and help reduce the region’s carbon footprint.
“The CIWN is a leading voice within the UK waste management industry, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with them more closely,” said Rick Allan, Managing Director at North West Recycling. “Waste Recycling has become a truly innovative sector, but also a technically demanding industry in which to operate. It is increasingly important to stay at the forefront of advancement in process technology and to ensure that those operating within it do so to the highest standard. To this end, we look forward to sharing industry knowledge, creating opportunity, and cultivating meaningful relationships within the sector.’’
North West Recycling (NWR), Cumbria’s leading private waste management and recycling company has further strengthened its management team with the appointment of Ian Ireland, in the new role of Marketing Director.
Originally from the North East, Ian has spent the last 8 years at North West digital agency Fat Media, where he was client services director and agency lead.
Previously, he also spent time as Group Account Director at one of the north’s biggest (and longest standing) advertising agencies, Martin Tait Redheads, and as a marketing consultant at former Newcastle based brand agency Fat Frog.
He joins North West Recycling to work alongside Managing Director and owner Rick Allan in repositioning the brand as the company continues to expand and add new, more sustainable waste processes at its purpose-built 30-acre waste management and recycling facility near Carlisle.
We are delighted to welcome three new recruits to our management team, as North West Recycling (NWR) strive to be early adopters of new waste process innovation and ultimately help combat Cumbria’s Co2 emissions.
The business has steadily grown its workforce since its inception and we recently announced exciting further expansion plans. The sustainable approach we take to managing waste through NWR’s fully integrated, end to end waste processing site, unique within Cumbria, is largely down to the employment of these type of leading industry practitioners, and the strength of our existing team who are able to quickly adopt new processes and recycling technologies as they emerge.
To this end, we have made some key hires into the transport, recycling, and engineering teams. Matt Turner joined the team in January 2021, assuming the new role of production manager. Matt is a waste management specialist, responsible for overseeing the company’s high levels of operational performance across the entire recycling facility, and crucially will lead the integration of new technologies as they are introduced to the recovery process.
Last week, we publicly announced the renaming of the company and the ambitious plans that we have put in place to help in the region’s efforts to combat Co2 emission.
Founded in 1995, Brampton Skip Hire was originally established as a domestic skip hire business. While this remains a core part of the business, our operation has grown rapidly and evolved into what is now Cumbria’s largest and most innovative environmental waste management company.
The company’s flagship 30-acre Rockcliffe HQ now delivers fully integrated waste processing capability on site, including collection, disposal, purpose-built recycling facility and a renewable fuel plant currently under construction.
The plant could help make a "substantial contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions", said John Stevenson, Conservative MP for Carlisle.
“This is fantastic news to see such a substantial investment potentially coming to Carlisle and Cumbria," he added.
We’re incredibly proud that our newly announced new pellet facility and partnership with Waste Knot Energy will significantly help to reduce Cumbria’s reliance on waste to landfill and bring onsiderable inward investment into to the area.
More details on the development to be released soon.
