North West Recycling joins leading trade body

North West Recycling (NWR), Cumbria’s leading private waste management company is pleased to announce that it has joined the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).

The CIWM raises the bar for operating standards in the waste management industry, NWR’s focus is on recycling process improvement within the circular economy, to divert waste from landfill and help reduce the region’s carbon footprint.

“The CIWN is a leading voice within the UK waste management industry, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with them more closely,” said Rick Allan, Managing Director at North West Recycling. “Waste Recycling has become a truly innovative sector, but also a technically demanding industry in which to operate. It is increasingly important to stay at the forefront of advancement in process technology and to ensure that those operating within it do so to the highest standard. To this end, we look forward to sharing industry knowledge, creating opportunity, and cultivating meaningful relationships within the sector.’’

The decision to become part of the CIWM comes as NWR undertakes a major programme of investment at its purpose-built facility near Carlisle and as the company’s management team grows following recent key hires. Membership of the CIWM will provide the team with access to leading industry resources, including professional training and development, and a wealth of readily accessible technical advice. In addition, it also confirms NWR’s commitment to process innovation and industry best practice.

The CIWM is committed to promoting professional standards in the waste and resources sector and supporting organisations and individuals to understand the skills and competences required to be a professional at all career levels.

As a result, not only has the company signed up to become a CIWM member, several of the management team have also become affiliate members, including Rick Allan (MD), Dave Bamber (General Manager), Matt Turner (Production Manager) and Beccie Oliver (Environmental Manager).

In doing, so they commit to upholding industry standards and to the CIWM’s Charter, undertaking Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and maintaining the highest standards within the waste sector.
